Loose slots Loose slots Loose slots

Where are they, are there such things.

We all want to know where casinos hide their loose slots, the truth is there are no "loose" slots. There are slots that are set to pay a higher percentage than others but they cannot be considered "loose". Unless specifically posted there is no way to know that a slot is paying 98% or 89%. You can get lucky at 89% and you can get lucky at 98% it's still all just random chance, so enjoy slots and have fun you might get lucky.

The slot players most frequently asked question

Question; Where are the loose slots?

Answer: Everybody wants to know the answer to this question and believe me, it is not an easy question to answer because it begs many more questions. For example; Where are the loose slots in Nevada? in Vegas? on the strip? Downtown? in which Casino? where in the casinos? We are not trying to be cute or evasive but merely trying to show the complexity of the question. OK here goes, the most common answer is, loose slots are placed at the end of the aisles, it is believed that if they are placed where people walk by they will generate excitement and interest for others.

Individuals will often tell you what Casino has the best Loose slots. This advice comes from the fact they have won on the slots in a particular Casino and therefore consider the slots to be loose. Some casinos place "loose" slots randomly but they are are loose only to the extent that they have frequent but smaller payoffs. If carefully studied you will find that they will take your money a little slower than the "regular" slots but they will take your money. Loose slots are not placed near the table games, as a rule.

Question; Why do larger Casinos pay off better than smaller ones?

Answer: Im not sure they do. Statistics on slots do not bear this out. Slots are set at the factory to pay out according to the purchasers specs while adhering to the legal minimum in the jurisdiction of the purchasing casino.

Question; What machines have the best payouts?

Answer: Most players have their favourite machines which they believe have the best payouts, mine use to be double diamonds but I have graduated to triple diamonds, are they the best? They are my current favourites. The "best" payouts are determined by the purchaser of the machines, since they are preset to the Casinos specs but within the legal minimum.

Question; I have heard that priming a machine will yield good results, is this so?

Answer: Machines are not manufactured so you can "prime" them, you do that with a water pump but not a slot machine.

Question; Do slot machines have a pay and take cycle?

Answer: My experience suggests that they do but it is not a black and white issue, there are many subtle areas between the pay and take cycle, machines do not just change from one mode to the other. There are periods of drought during a pay cycle and there are periods of pay during a take cycle but one is dominant for the period of pay or take. The trick is to recognize the mode and play it accordingly.

More on slots

Limits...Limit your play to 3 to 5 pulls on any one machine. especialy the high end machines, $1.00 $5.00 and up. If you want to set a higher limit that's up to you. Sometimes I will play more than 3 or 5 depending on what's happening and how I feel. On quarter nachines you can allow yourself a little more leaway, on nickle machines you can steam away and not get hurt too badly.

Maximumn coin play On some machines it is best to play the maximum number of coins, depending on you and your bank roll. Only you can decide how many coins you want to play.

Run...If you get a good hit...play another couple of pulls and run.

Money Management...Know where you stand at all times. Use the counters on the slots to your advantage. Don't play credits. cash in and play coins it's slower and you can use the counters to keep track of where you stand.

Wander around.....If you're not hitting, stop and wander around, take a break. walk around, enjoy watching others play.

Specialize....Find machines that you understand and play them. Don't play just any machine. Learn what machines appeal to you and stick with them, we all have favourites that's part of the fun.

Take a chance...If you are up you can afford to take a chance on high end machines even the 5.00 slots. If you do get a hit...run.

Read the machine....Make sure you understand the payoff schedule on any slot you play, you will avoid disappointment. Once you have done this you will avoid certain machines.

One coin play.....You don't need to play three coins at all times, particularly on high end machines, $1.00 $5.00 and up. Find machines that will allow one coin play and still payout the maximum. I am not talking about pay for play type machines nor three or five liners. I am talking about single line machines that payout on all symbols for 1 coin. You will sometimes think, gee if I had played three coins I would have won three times as much, beware the Casinos main weapon.... Greed.

Set your own rules...Because a machine takes up to 5 plus coins does not mean you have to play that many. If you read the machine you will see, in many cases, that the payout per coin is exactly the same relative value. In other words many slots will pay X for 1 coin and 2X for 2 coins and 3X for 3 coins. "Read the machine."

Cycles......This one is still up for grabs but my experience says that slots pay-off in cycles. They go through a "take" cycle and they go through a "pay"cycle. Needless to say the "take" cycle lasts much longer than the "pay" cycle.

Big hits.....In all of my experience the "big hits" have come in the first few pulls. Latest example: Aug 04/97 on a 2 coin quarter machine. Inserted 2 quarters and got 3 blue sevens for 300 quarters on the first pull.Example 2 Sep 24 in Vegas 4th spin on a triple diamond quarter machine..Jackpot 4000 quarters ..LUCK??...You bet.

Luck ...Do not underestimate the luck factor. If you win you are just Plain lucky. A $50.00 book on winning at slots won't give better advice.

Good luck.....If you follow these simple rules that I have developed over almost thirty years of playing the slots you will enjoy slots more and lose less money and even come out a winner.....if you're lucky.
